(Montreal, October 8th 2015) During the month of October, Hail to the Deadites will release a new teaser every Thursday, at 5pm, Eastern time, leading to the release of a new full-length trailer on October 31st.

The teasers will be released on the Hail to the Deadites website and Facebook page and each release will include new footage.

Hail to the Deadites is a documentary not about the Evil Dead franchise, but about the Deadites, the collectors, cosplayers and sundry obsessives who have kept the franchise alive for over thirty years!

The documentary is the brainchild of Steve Villeneuve, co-founder and co-owner of Digger Films in Montreal, Canada and features the participation of Ted Raimi, Betsy Baker, Theresa Tilly, Ellen Sandweiss, Richard DeManincor, Tom Sullivan ,Dan Hicks ,Kassie Wesley DePaiva, Sarah Berry, Rick Domeier, Bill Moseley and the King himself Bruce Campbell.

The Evil Dead super fans are the reason Ash vs Evil Dead is happening at all, and we at Digger Films can’t think of a better way to celebrate Ash’s return than to share a few glimpses of Hail to the Deadites, a documentary about the fans, by the fans and for the fans of the Evil Dead franchise.

The film is schedule to be released in 2016.

Synopsis:

“Inspired by the 1981 classic’s cult following, HAIL TO THE DEADITES is a documentary about the fans of the EVIL DEAD franchise. Through interviews with the cast, crew, collectors, fans, freaks and geeks, HAIL TO THE DEADITES seeks to illuminate the darkest reaches of the EVIL DEAD franchise’s undying and still-growing popularity, a popularity that has spawned four films, a TV series, comic books, figurines, and surpassed even its creator’s wildest dreams.

HAIL TO THE DEADITES puts the spotlight on the fans that cultivated and spread this groovy pop-culture infection! It celebrates those who’ve celebrated the films! So, rev your chainsaws and load your boomsticks, it’s time to give the DEADITES some sugar, baby!”

Chicago Wizard World Comic Con: Super Fans and Searching for Bruce Campbell

Sep 4, 2015   //   News, On "set"

On Thursday, August 21, Steve, Martin and I (Andre) began the fifteen-hour drive from Montreal to Chicago’s Wizard World Comic Con. We hoped to get an interview with Bruce Campbell, who was headlining his own Bruce Campbell HorrorFest, but had no reason to believe that it would happen.

The true purpose of our trip was to meet up with Michael Witchy, John Dowding and Emanuele Crivello, three Evil Dead super fans who’d flown in from Wales , England and Italy, respectively, to chat and be photographed with the cast of the Evil Dead films and finally spend some time face-to-face with other fans of the series.

We followed the trio around the convention, filming them as they met the people responsible for their favorite films. All three had an absolutely amazing time in Chicago and took back souvenirs and memories that will last a lifetime.

Meanwhile, our team took steps—often tiny but always significant steps—to gain an interview with Bruce.

We stood in line and spoke to Ted Raimi, who pointed us in the direction of his and Bruce’s manager,  We spoke to the Three Ladies of Evil Dead, who urged us on. We sent Bruce’s agent footage of Hail to the Deadites for Bruce to review. We finally got an interview with Ted Raimi, getting his views on the fans and the continued popularity of the Evil Dead franchise.

And…

On Sunday.

Our last full day.

Bruce agent came to us and gave us the good news: Bruce liked the footage, all the other cast members had spoken to us and at least a few of them had spoken kindly of us, so Bruce would give us five minutes.

We ended up with twenty minutes. Twenty glorious minutes.

Fellow Deadites, I don’t mind telling you right now: you cannot wait for this.

An enormous thanks to (the 3 ladies), Bruce agent and, of course, Bruce Campbell!
